Google Local Services Ads in India: are they available?
By Darshana Patel10 min read
Short answer: Google Local Services Ads, the "Google Guaranteed" pay-per-lead ads that appear above the normal search results, are not available to businesses in India at the time of writing. They run in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and parts of Europe, where a lead usually costs the equivalent of ₹2,000 to ₹12,000. An Indian service business gets the closest result from a free Google Business Profile plus a location-targeted Google search campaign, where a click typically costs ₹15 to ₹60.
If you have watched a YouTube video about Google ads for plumbers or lawyers, you have seen Local Services Ads: a row of businesses at the very top of Google with a green tick, a star rating, a phone number, and the promise that you "only pay per lead". Owners ask us how to get them in India every month, and agencies sometimes pitch "Google Guaranteed" as if it were on sale here. This guide explains what Google Local Services Ads are, where they run, what a lead costs there, why the phrase is searched in India anyway, and what an Indian service business should do to get the same phone calls today.
What Google Local Services Ads are
Local Services Ads (LSAs) are a separate ad product from Google, different from the normal search ads you set up in Google Ads. They are built for businesses that come to the customer’s home or office, or that people call for a professional service: plumbers, electricians, AC and appliance repair, cleaners, pest control, locksmiths, movers, lawyers, financial planners, real estate agents, and a growing list of others.
They work differently from regular ads in four ways:
- They show above everything else. A carousel of two or three local businesses sits at the very top of the search page and in Google Maps, above the normal text ads.
- You pay per lead, not per click. Google charges only when a customer calls, messages or books through the ad. Clicks that do not turn into contact are free. Leads that are spam, wrong-number or outside your area can be disputed, and Google credits them back.
- Google verifies the business first. Before the ad runs, Google (through partner companies) checks the business registration, the owner’s background, the trade licence and the insurance where the law requires them. Only then does the business get a badge.
- Ranking is about trust, not bids. Reviews, how fast you answer the phone, your opening hours, how close you are to the searcher, and your weekly budget all affect who appears. There are no keywords to manage.
Google Guaranteed and Google Screened
Two badges appear on these ads. Google Guaranteed is for home-service trades. In addition to the checks, Google backs the work: if a customer is unhappy with a job booked through the ad, Google may refund them up to a limit set for the country. Google Screened is for professional services such as lawyers and financial advisers. Google checks licences and background but does not offer the refund.
Both badges are earned through Google’s own verification. They cannot be bought, and they do not exist for Indian businesses at the time of writing.
Where Local Services Ads actually run
At the time of writing, Google offers Local Services Ads in:
- North America: United States and Canada.
- Europe: United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Switzerland, with the list of eligible categories varying by country.
- Australia.
India is not on the list. The programme depends on background and licence checks run by partner companies in each country, and Google has expanded it a few countries at a time. If your Google Ads account is registered in India you will not see the option, and creating a foreign account to get it would break Google’s rules and would not bring Indian customers.
One change you may read about: in 2026 Google began moving Local Services Ads inside the main Google Ads platform as a pay-per-lead campaign type for some US categories. The placement and per-lead billing stay the same, and it does not change availability in India.
What a lead costs where they exist
For context, and so you can judge any "pay per lead" offer you are given here, these are typical per-lead prices reported by agencies in the United States at the time of writing, converted roughly to rupees:
| Trade | Typical cost per lead (US) | Roughly in rupees |
|---|---|---|
| Pest control | $20 – $70 | ₹1,700 – ₹6,000 |
| Plumbing | $25 – $90 | ₹2,000 – ₹8,000 |
| Electrician | $35 – $85 | ₹3,000 – ₹7,500 |
| Heating and cooling | $35 – $100 | ₹3,000 – ₹8,500 |
| Roofing | $60 – $150 | ₹5,000 – ₹13,000 |
| Lawyers | $80 – $300+ | ₹7,000 – ₹26,000+ |
Those numbers make sense where a plumbing job bills a few hundred dollars. In India, where the same job often bills ₹500 to ₹3,000, a per-lead price of that size would never work. The good news is that Indian search clicks are correspondingly cheap.
Why Indian businesses search for "local service ads" anyway
Three things drive it, and knowing them saves you money:
- Foreign marketing content. Most of what is written about Google ads for home services is written for the US, and it does not say "US only" in the title.
- Agency pitches. Some agencies use "Google Guaranteed" or "pay per lead Google ads" in their sales material. In India what they actually deliver is a normal search campaign, sometimes with a lead-form add-on. That can be a perfectly good service, but you should know what you are buying and pay the normal price for it.
- Lead-selling websites. Justdial, Sulekha and various "verified vendor" directories sell leads per enquiry or per month. They are not Google, the leads are shared with several businesses, and quality varies a lot. Try one month before committing to a year.
If anyone offers you a Google Guaranteed badge or Local Services Ads in India, ask them to show it live in your own Google Ads account. They cannot.
What an Indian service business should use instead
The result you want is what the ads deliver abroad: appearing at the top when someone nearby searches "AC repair near me", with your rating, paying only for real enquiries. Three tools you already have access to get you most of the way there.
1. A complete Google Business Profile (free)
This is the closest thing to a Local Services Ad in India, and it costs nothing. When someone searches "electrician in Kothrud", the map with three businesses that appears near the top is decided by your profile: category, service area, reviews, photos, hours and how complete it is. For a business that visits customers, set a service area instead of showing a home address. Our step-by-step guide to getting your shop on Google Maps walks through the setup and verification.
2. Google search ads targeted to your area (pay per click)
A normal Google search campaign, done tightly, behaves a lot like a pay-per-lead ad:
- Target a radius of a few kilometres around the area you serve, not the whole city.
- Use exact keywords people type in an emergency: "AC not cooling", "plumber near me", "geyser repair".
- Add the call button and a WhatsApp landing page, and schedule the ads for the hours you actually answer.
- Track calls and messages so you know what each enquiry costs.
In India a click for a home-service search usually costs ₹15 to ₹60, and in our experience a well-set-up campaign turns roughly one click in ten into a call or WhatsApp message for urgent services. That puts a real enquiry at a few hundred rupees rather than a few thousand. Our post on Google Ads cost in India gives the full numbers by industry.
3. Lead forms and local Performance Max (with care)
Google Ads in India does offer lead form assets (a form that opens inside the ad) and Performance Max campaigns with local goals. They can work with a good profile and proper tracking, but they optimise on whatever data they are given, so for a new account start with a plain search campaign and add these after a month or two.

How to get lead-style results on Google in India: five steps
- Verify your Google Business Profile, choose the exact category ("Plumber", not "Contractor"), set your service area and hours, and add at least ten real photos.
- Ask every satisfied customer for a review with a one-tap link, and reply to each one. Reviews are the Indian version of the badge.
- Launch one search campaign with a small radius, ten to twenty exact keywords, a negative keyword list, and call and WhatsApp buttons. Start at ₹300 a day.
- Answer the phone. Missed calls are the biggest leak. If you cannot answer on site, route calls to WhatsApp with an auto reply and call back within ten minutes.
- Check the cost per enquiry monthly, pause the keywords that bring nothing, and put more budget on the ones that bring calls.
Give it two months before judging. The first month teaches you which words and areas work.

The short version
Google Local Services Ads are pay-per-lead ads with a "Google Guaranteed" badge, available in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and parts of Europe, and not in India at the time of writing. Abroad a lead costs the equivalent of ₹2,000 to ₹12,000; in India nobody can sell you the badge or the ads. The same phone calls come from a complete, verified Google Business Profile with steady reviews, plus a tightly targeted Google search campaign at ₹15 to ₹60 a click, with call and WhatsApp buttons and someone who answers.
Common questions
Can I run Google Local Services Ads in India?
Not at the time of writing. Local Services Ads are offered in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and a number of European countries, and India is not on Google’s list. If your Google Ads account is registered in India the option does not appear. The closest alternatives are a Google Business Profile and a location-targeted Google search campaign.
What does "Google Guaranteed" mean?
It is a badge shown on Local Services Ads for home-service businesses that passed Google’s background, licence and insurance checks. In those countries Google may refund a customer up to a limit if the work is unsatisfactory. Nobody can sell you a Google Guaranteed badge in India, and anyone offering one is not selling the real thing.
How much do Local Services Ads cost per lead?
In the countries where they run, businesses pay only for a valid lead (a call, message or booking), typically the equivalent of ₹2,000 to ₹12,000 per lead depending on the trade, with legal and restoration services higher. There is no cost per click. Google can credit leads that turn out to be spam or wrong-number.
What should an Indian plumber, electrician or cleaner use instead?
Start with a free, verified Google Business Profile with a service area, photos and steady reviews, which is where "plumber near me" searches show local results. Then add a small Google search campaign targeted to your area with call and WhatsApp buttons. A click for a home service in India usually costs ₹15 to ₹60, so ₹300 a day is a realistic start.
Will Local Services Ads come to India?
Google has not announced a date. The programme depends on background checks, licence records and insurance verification that Google runs through partners in each country, and it has expanded slowly, a few countries at a time. Build your profile and reviews now; if the ads arrive, those are exactly the things that decide who ranks.
