Social media marketing packages in India: what you get

By 10 min read

Short answer: Social media marketing packages in India at the time of writing usually cost ₹3,000 to ₹10,000 a month from a freelancer, ₹10,000 to ₹25,000 from a small agency, and ₹25,000 to ₹50,000 or more from a full agency that also runs ads and shoots video. Ad budget is almost never included. For a local business, what brings customers is reels shot in your shop, fast replies and a healthy Google Business Profile, not a fixed number of designed posts.

Most owners we speak to have been sent at least one price list for social media marketing packages: Basic, Standard, Premium, with a column of ticks. The tricky part is that "20 posts a month" and "reach growth" tell you nothing about whether the phone will ring. This guide explains what a package usually includes, the three tiers sold in India and what they typically cost, the difference between managing an account and marketing with ads, what actually brings customers to a local business, the questions to ask before you sign, the red flags, and a free weekly routine if you decide to do it yourself.

What a social media package usually includes

Most social media management services bundle the same building blocks and change the quantities per tier:

  • Designed posts. Static images with your logo, an offer or a tip. Usually 8 to 20 a month.
  • Reels or short videos. Sometimes made from your footage, sometimes stock clips with text. Usually 2 to 8 a month.
  • Stories. Daily or a few times a week, often reposting the feed content.
  • Captions and hashtags. Written for you, sometimes with a monthly theme calendar.
  • Replies. Answering comments and direct messages, within working hours or within a set time.
  • Ad management. Boosting posts or running proper campaigns, with your ad budget on top.
  • Reporting. A monthly PDF of followers, reach, likes and comments.
  • Platforms covered. Instagram and Facebook are standard; LinkedIn, YouTube or Google Business Profile cost extra or sit in higher tiers.

What is rarely included: the photo and video shoot at your shop, the ad budget, any website or landing page work, and replying after 7 pm or on Sundays, which is when many customers actually message.

The three tiers sold in India, and what they cost

Prices below are typical monthly fees at the time of writing, excluding GST and excluding any ad budget.

Tier What you usually get Typical monthly cost Who it suits
Freelancer or starter 8 – 12 designed posts, 2 – 4 reels from your clips, stories, captions, basic replies, a simple report ₹3,000 – ₹10,000 A shop or clinic that wants the account to look alive without spending much
Small agency 12 – 20 posts, 4 – 8 reels, daily stories, replies within a few hours, hashtag research, boosted posts (budget extra), monthly call ₹10,000 – ₹25,000 A business with a few branches or a higher ticket size that needs consistency
Full agency with ads and video Everything above plus monthly shoot at your location, Ads Manager campaigns on Meta and sometimes Google, landing page support, weekly reporting, a named account manager ₹25,000 – ₹50,000+ Restaurants, real estate, clinics, coaching and brands where social media is a main lead source

A few things to notice. The jump from the first tier to the second is mostly quantity: more of the same posts. The jump to the third tier is where the content changes character, because someone actually comes to your premises with a camera and someone runs ads with a goal. In our experience the shoot and the ads are where the results come from, and the post count in between matters far less than the price list suggests.

Instagram account management alone, or Facebook page management packages on their own, usually sit at the bottom of the starter band, because it is one platform and mostly posting.

Management versus marketing: the difference that changes the bill

The two words are used interchangeably on price lists but they are different jobs.

Social media management is running your accounts: posting, stories, replying, keeping the profile tidy. It is aimed at people who already found you, and its job is to make you look real, current and trustworthy when they check you out.

Social media marketing is paying Meta or Google to put your offer in front of people who have never heard of you. It needs an ad budget on top of any fee, a goal (messages, leads, calls), and someone who knows Ads Manager. Our post on Instagram ads cost in India explains what that budget actually buys.

A package that says "marketing" but lists only posts and stories is a management package. A package that includes "ad management" but no line for your ad budget is telling you half the cost. Ask which one you are buying and where the ad money goes.

What actually moves the needle for a local business

Here is the honest list, in rough order of how often we see it bring enquiries for a shop, clinic, salon or class:

  1. Google Business Profile posts and reviews. People who search your category on Google and Maps are ready to buy. A profile with fresh photos, weekly posts and recent replied-to reviews wins those searches. No social media package we have seen does this by default.
  2. Reels shot in the shop. A 15-second phone video of the owner explaining one thing, a before-and-after, a dish being plated, a customer collecting an order. Real footage from your premises outperforms designed graphics almost every time.
  3. WhatsApp status and broadcasts. Your existing customers already have your number. A status update with today's offer reaches them for free, and a broadcast list brings repeat business.
  4. Replies within the hour. An Instagram or Facebook message answered in ten minutes becomes a customer; the same message answered the next day usually does not.
  5. A small ad budget with the message goal. ₹200 to ₹300 a day pointed at a 5 km radius, sending people to WhatsApp, does more for most local businesses than any number of organic posts.

And here is what looks busy but rarely brings customers: twelve designed posts a month that reach the same few hundred followers, generic motivational quotes, festival greetings with your logo, hashtag sets copied from a competitor, and follower counts that go up while the phone stays quiet.

If you want a routine you can actually keep, our post on content creation for small business lays out a weekly plan built around your phone and your shop.

Questions to ask before you sign

  1. Who shoots the content, and where? If the answer is "we use stock images and your logo", the posts will look like everyone else's. Ask how often someone visits your premises or whether you are expected to send clips.
  2. Who owns the accounts? Every page, Instagram handle, ad account and Meta Business account must be created under your email and phone number, with the agency added as a partner or admin. If they leave, the accounts stay with you.
  3. What does "engagement" mean in your report? Likes and comments are engagement. Messages, calls and enquiries are customers. Ask them to report the second set.
  4. What are the exit terms? No lock-in is best. A notice period of one month is fair. A 12-month contract with a discount is a lock-in dressed up.
  5. Who replies to messages and how fast? Working hours matter. Ask what happens to a message at 9 pm on Saturday.
  6. What is extra? Ad budget, shoots, extra platforms, revisions beyond a number, and GST. Get the list in writing.
  7. Can we see three months of posts made for a business like ours? Not a portfolio of pretty designs; the actual monthly output for one client, so you can judge repetition.

Red flags

  • Follower or reach guarantees. Nobody controls what Meta shows. A guarantee usually means bought followers or boosted posts with a "followers" goal that bring accounts which never buy.
  • Buying followers or likes. It makes your reach worse, because the platform shows your posts to those fake accounts first and they never react.
  • No access to the ad account. If you cannot log in and see what was spent and on what, you cannot check the report.
  • Prices that include "ad spend" without a number. Ask how much of the fee goes to Meta. Often it is a few hundred rupees.
  • Reports full of reach and impressions with no mention of messages or calls. The numbers that matter are missing because they are small.
  • A salesperson who never asks what a customer is worth to you. Without that number, no package can be judged.

A DIY weekly routine that costs nothing

If your budget is under ₹10,000 a month, doing it yourself often beats a starter package, because you know the business and you can reply instantly. A routine most owners can keep:

  • Monday, 20 minutes: one Google Business Profile post (this week's offer, a new product, a tip) and reply to any new reviews.
  • Tuesday, 15 minutes: one reel shot on your phone in the shop. Speak to the camera or show the work. Post it to Instagram and Facebook, and put it on WhatsApp status.
  • Wednesday to Friday, 5 minutes a day: one story each day (a customer collecting, today's special, a behind-the-scenes shot) and check messages morning and evening.
  • Saturday, 15 minutes: ask three happy customers for a Google review with your review link, and post a second reel or a photo set.
  • Every day: reply to every message and comment within the hour during working hours. Set quick replies in WhatsApp Business for the questions you get most.

That is under two hours a week. It will not make you famous, but it keeps the profile alive, feeds Google, and catches enquiries while they are warm. When you are ready to spend money, spend it on ads with a message goal and on a proper shoot, not on more designed posts.

What we charge

We do not sell a daily posting package, and we would rather say so than sell you one. What we offer sits on the two things that bring local businesses customers:

  • Ads Management: ₹12,999 per month. Google and Meta ads together, new ad creatives every month, weekly checks, a plain monthly report of enquiries and cost per enquiry, and WhatsApp support. Your ad budget is separate and paid by you directly to Google or Meta. Details on the Google and Meta Ads page.
  • Profile Care: ₹2,999 per month. Weekly Google Business Profile posts, replies to every review, new photos, and a monthly report of calls, views and direction requests. Details on the Google Business Profile page.

Both are monthly with no lock-in, prices exclude GST, and every account stays in your name. The full price list is on the pricing page.

The short version

Social media marketing packages in India usually cost ₹3,000 to ₹10,000 a month from a freelancer, ₹10,000 to ₹25,000 from a small agency, and ₹25,000 to ₹50,000 or more with ads and video, always plus ad budget and GST. Before you compare tiers, separate management (posting and replying) from marketing (ads with a budget), ask who shoots the content and who owns the accounts, and refuse follower guarantees and lock-ins. For most local businesses, a fresh Google Business Profile, reels shot in the shop, WhatsApp status and replies within the hour beat a bundle of designed posts, and you can do that yourself in under two hours a week.

Common questions

How much do social media marketing packages cost in India?

At the time of writing a freelancer or starter package usually costs ₹3,000 to ₹10,000 a month, a small agency package ₹10,000 to ₹25,000, and a full agency package with ads and video ₹25,000 to ₹50,000 or more. Ad budget is almost always extra and paid to Meta or Google directly.

What is included in a social media management package?

Usually a fixed number of designed posts, some reels and stories, caption writing, hashtag research, replying to comments and messages, and a monthly report. Higher tiers add ad management, video shoots and strategy calls. Always ask for the exact monthly list in writing before you compare prices.

What is the difference between social media management and social media marketing?

Management is posting and replying on your accounts so they look alive. Marketing is paying Meta or Google to show ads to people who do not follow you yet. Management builds trust with people who already found you; marketing brings new people in. Most local businesses need a little of both, not a lot of one.

Is a social media package worth it for a small shop?

Only if the content is shot in your shop and the package includes replying to enquiries fast. Twelve designed posts a month that nobody sees do not bring customers. For most local businesses, Google Business Profile posts, reviews and a small ad budget bring more enquiries than a posting package alone.
